This is a condition where a physical obstruction in the throat area creates a difficulty in breathing during sleep. Unless you have a bed partner to let you know about it, this happens without your knowledge. In its simplest form, this is seen as "simple" snoring. At its worst it is called severe obstructive sleep apnea.
Dr. Lawler works with local physicians and the Bloomington Hospital sleep laboratory in managing these sleep disorders with a dental appliance worn during sleep. The Remmers Sleep Recorder is used in this process to help screen patients who feel they may have this disorder and to help determine the success of treatment.
